Sights
Drogarati Cave:
The grandiosity of nature has created here a unique work of art. Once inside the cave, the visitor is instantly captivated by this remarkable workshop of the earth, where stalactites and stalagmites have been forming for thousands of years. The reflection of sunlight on the stalactites creates an unrealistic atmosphere. The cave contains a 44-m-long descending passageway that leads to a chamber of 30 x 40 m. The latter, decorated with multi-hued stalactites and stalagmites, is renowned for its excellent acoustics and is prearranged for concerts on a special platform which is along the back wall of the cave. Its domed roof is intact and is of a unique, magical formation. The Drogarati Cave is a rare geological phenomenon and attracts thousands of visitors.
Melissani Cave-Lake:
Melissani Cave is located not far from Sami. It is a lacustrine cave of unique beauty and fully developed cave, which is 3.5 km long, 40m wide and 36m high. Melissani cave constitutes a unique geological phenomenon. It was created by a mechanical and chemical process called karstikopoiisi (dissolution of rocks) during which water enters the calcareous rocks, erodes them and creates hollows. The underground Melissani lake was discovered in 1951 by speleontologist Giannis Petrochilos. A big part of its roof has fallen down revealing an amazing sight. During antiquity the lake was a place of worship dedicated to Pan and Nymph Melissani. Visitors reach the lake by an underground tunnel and have the opportunity to explore it with a boat and a guide. Therefore, they can admire this unique natural work of sculpture created by the stalactites and the crystal blue-green color of the waters.
Fiscardo Village:
Fiscardo survived the destructive earthquake of 1953. Most of the buildings preserve their traditional local colour that travels you back in time: Grand mansions with elegant balconies, old two-storey houses, the dark red of roof tiles, the greenish of mountainsides, the blue of the sea and the overall scenery is enchanting.
Assos Village:
At the north part of the island, picturesque Assos is built alongside of the cliffs of the same peninsula, among pine trees and cypresses. Sparsely built with traditional color, in an impressive landscape, Assos fascinates with the peace and simplicity it depicts.
Myrtos (photo stop):
It is the trademark of Kefalonia with numerous international awards as one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean and it is certainly worth it. Moreover, every year Myrtos is being awarded from the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) with the blue flag. The scenery from above is unique and the view is certainly breathtaking. Green rocks that result in quite a long beach with white pebbles and the Ionian Sea at its best.

Tour Reviews
Well worth booking the trip, excellent knowledgeable driver Nick , great way to see the island in a small group in a modern air conditioned mini bus.
Eugene took amazing care of our family. He showed us the best parts of the island and happily answered all of our questions. Pick up and communication were easy and we were comfortable paying in advance.
I can not recommend them enough. Super easy.
I can recommended Unexplored without reservation – its proprietors, Makos and Stavros, were warm, generous and obliging throughout the time we spent with them – nothing was too much trouble and they went well beyond the call of duty, becoming our go-to guys whenever we needed to take a sight-seeing trip.
Much of our time was spent with Makus, who is polite and friendly – he also has a great knowledge of the island and is a mine of geographical, historic and tourist information. His English is amazing too.
Unexplored is one of Skala’s highlights – whether partaking in activities or simply using their services as guides, you will not be disappointed. Thank you!
Paul, Mia, Dibeh, Betty-Lou and Nanny Vanda.
